Jersey City

Before you spend hours scouring the Internet for an affordable and convenient place to stay in the heart of Manhattan or Brooklyn during your visit to The Big Apple, may we offer two words? Jersey City.

Just across the Hudson River from New York City—just 15 minutes from the Freedom Tower and Midtown Manhattan via PATH train or ferry—Jersey City, New Jersey is so convenient, some call it New York City’s “Sixth Borough”.

But convenience is only the beginning of JC’s appeal. Here are 4 reasons we fell in love with this vibrant city and chose it as the ideal home base for Deedee’s vacation apartments, catering to international families, couples, friends and business travelers.

Value

If you’ve read 6 Reasons a Vacation Rental is Better Than a Hotel, we assume you’d prefer to stay in a spacious, stylish apartment with a full kitchen and private roof terrace for the price of a cramped hotel room on a noisy Manhattan street corner.

So, why not rent a vacation apartment in Manhattan? Because it is illegal to rent or sublet a NYC co-op, condo or apartment for a stay of less than 30 days.

In nearby Jersey City, it’s a whole different story! Here, you’ll have your pick of stylish spaces with luxury amenities renting for a fraction of what you’d pay to stay in NYC. Deedee’s Apartments’ diverse collection of lofts, high-rise apartments, and duplexes in lovingly restored brownstones, plus our off-the-charts personal service, have made us Jersey City’s highest-rated host.

In the words of a recent guest, “What people will not realize until spending time there is how much they will be able to recharge at night in this very peaceful, quiet and perfectly appointed apartment with over-the-top amenities.”

The Venue

After a day of sightseeing in NYC’s famous boroughs, you’ll look forward to winding down in Jersey City’s small-town atmosphere. It’s less hectic than Manhattan, but far from boring! You’ll find a hip culinary scene and lively nightlife steps from your door in Jersey City’s revitalized Historic Downtown. All of Deedee’s Apartments are also close to rooftop bars, specialty markets, juice bars and live entertainment. Browse upscale boutiques, bargain-friendly outlets and discount malls. (Remember, New Jersey has no retail tax on clothing or shoes!)

The Grove Street area is being compared to some of the hippest parts of Brooklyn, only much more convenient. A stretch of Newark Avenue was pedestrianized in 2015 and hosts many festivals and special events. The All About Downtown Street Fair draws more than 30,000 people in September!

And count Deedee’s team among the friendly locals. We’ll personally welcome you when you arrive and be on call to make your stay incredible. Our knowledge of Jersey City and NYC alone will be invaluable!

The Views

Staying just across the Hudson River, you’ll see something the average hotel guest doesn’t—the magnificent New York City skyline, day and night. Join commuters strolling the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway for the view. Deedee’s sky-rise apartments treat you to spectacular wraparound views of Lower Manhattan from the 34th and 35th floors!

But, here’s Jersey City’s best-kept secret. The views of The Statue of Liberty (on every visitor’s must-see list) are spectacular from Liberty State Park. Lady Liberty is less than a mile offshore, so Liberty State Park is also the best place to board the ferry to Liberty Island and Ellis Island. You can bypass the long lines at Battery Park in Manhattan but still have the option of returning to Battery Park to continue sightseeing. Purchase your tickets online at www.statuecruises.com or at the Statue Cruises ticket office.

Our Vibrant Culture

Jersey City was the first stop for many of the more than 12 million immigrant steamship passengers processed through Ellis Island between 1892 until 1954 and the city remains a melting pot of diverse cultures.

Check out our eclectic culinary scene ! You’ll find everything from burgers and ice cream to authentic Korean, Indian, Filipino, Cuban, Mexican, Italian specialties, and more. Linger at a sidewalk cafe or splurge at one of our finest restaurants, catering to the most sophisticated palates. The lively nightlife includes sleek hotel clubs on the waterfront, theater and live music.

The 12-block Powerhouse Arts District, part of Jersey City’s Waterfront neighborhood, is considered Jersey City’s version of Brooklyn’s DUMBO and home to residential lofts and high-rise developments surrounded by new art galleries, shops, restaurants and cafes.

One of our guests said it best: “We were supposed to stay here and go to NYC, but my daughter loved the area so much, we barely left.”

Have we convinced you? We can’t wait to welcome you to Jersey City and introduce you to the city we love!
